Keto Cottage Pie Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves of Garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon of Dried Oregano
  • 1 small Onion, diced
  • 3 sticks of Celery, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 2 pounds of Ground Beef
  • 3 tablespoons of Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup of Beef Stock
  • ¼ cup of Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of Fresh Thyme Leaves
  • 10 ounces of Greens Beans, cut into 1in lengths
  • 1.6 pounds (1 large head) of Cauliflower, cut into evenly sized florets
  • 3 ounces of Butter
  • ½ teaspoon of Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of Pepper
  • 3 Egg Yolks
  • Pinch of Paprika
  • Pinch of Dried Oregano

How To Make Keto Cottage Pie

  1. Place a large saucepan over high heat.
  2. Add the olive oil, garlic, oregano, onion, and celery and saute for 5 minutes, until the onion is starting to become translucent.
  3. Add the salt and ground beef, stirring continuously to break apart the meat while it browns.
  4. When the beef is browned add the tomato paste and stir well.
  5. Add the beef stock and red wine vinegar and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes until the liquid has reduced.
  6. Add the thyme and green beans and simmer for 5 minutes before removing from the heat.
  7. Spoon the beef mixture into your casserole dish and set aside.
  8. Preheat your oven to 175/350F.
  9. Fill a large saucepan two-thirds full of water and bring to the boil.
  10. Add the cauliflower and cook for 7-10 minutes until tender.
  11. Carefully pour the water and cauliflower into a colander and drain well.
  12. Return the drained cauliflower to the saucepan, along with the butter, salt and pepper.
  13. Using your stick blender, blend the cauliflower into a smooth mash.
  14. Add the egg yolks and blend well.
  15. Gently spoon the mashed cauliflower onto the beef mixture into your casserole dish.
  16. Sprinkle with paprika and oregano.
  17. Bake the pie in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until the mash is golden brown.
  18. Serve immediately or chill and store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
